Add one more device to the ever growing list of 8 inch Windows 8 Tablets. Mobile Geeks has discovered leaked information about a possible new Asus VivoTab Note 8 tablet. It appears that the tablet in question will run Windows 8.1 and utilize the new Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail processor. This would be on par with the current crop of 8 inch Windows Tablets such as the Dell Venue 8 Pro and Toshiba Encore. The price for this tablet should be around $299 which is also on par with similar devices. No official release date available yet but we expect to see this device sooner than later.
Asus VivoTab Note 8 specs include the fore-mentioned Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail processor, 2GBs of ram, your choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage, an 1280 x 800 IPS display, a 5MP rear facing camera and 1.2MP front facing camera.
To my delight, the Asus VivoTab Note 8 looks like it will accept pen input. I think all Windows Tablets should feature stylus pen support. Interacting with tiny controls on the tablet’s desktop with your thumb is not fun at all.
Hopefully the Asus VivoTab Note 8 will offer so differentiating features. While I currently recommend the Dell Venue 8 Pro over similar tablets, I find all of these devices to be mostly the same.
